Welcome to my new blog site. It is a journey of how my dream of owning a handcrafted mixed media jewelry business and online store has finally been realized after 40 years! I’ve included a link to my online store at the bottom of this webpage. The products in the store are only a small portion of my jewelry items; however, you have to start somewhere. I hope you’ll visit it and check back monthly for new items as I upload them to my store. I like to make mixed media jewelry from unusual products, including guitar picks, upcycled guitar strings, stainless steel and copper plumbing washers, buttons, zippers, copper tubing, fabric, origami paper, beachstones and other items. I also make bracelets, earrings, necklaces, pendants, rings, and anklets from: shells, sea glass, metals, pearls, leather/suede,  cording/hemp, macramé, crochet, beads/crystals, tatting, and polymer clay.

There is a calendar on this page of upcoming jewelry/craft shows I’ll be attending throughout the year (weather permitting) and the times and locations for those readers who are local to Rhode Island/Massachusetts areas. If you see something on this slideshow above which includes some samples of my jewelry, and it’s not listed in my online store, email me at maryjdesigns33@gmail.com and I might be able to make one for you if the beads and jewelry supplies are still available.

My goal is to blog about once a week, as I’m busy attending vendor craft and jewelry shows most of the year. In addition, I still substitute part-time as a school nurse-teacher at local schools. I’ll also try and show you the different items I sell at my shows and how I came about crafting them. Jewelry hints and tutorial will be posted as well.  Hope you’ll visit this blog and my store often for new designs, ideas, and hints.  Thanks, Mary Johnston
